Wind: In summer a west to north-westerly breeze usually blows during the day, strongest in the afternoon and easing in the evening. Inside the gulf the water is usually calmer than offshore.
The area: The bays of Göcek and Fethiye are ringed by islands and peninsulas; many coves are sheltered and close together.
Protected areas: Fethiye-Göcek Special Environmental Protection Area. Local rules for anchoring and mooring apply, for example to protect the seagrass meadows (Posidonia). Check the current regulations before you anchor.
