A boat is not a hotel:A boat is neither a hotel nor a holiday flat – and that is exactly what makes it special. In season the crew is there for you often 14 to 16 hours a day and needs rest, at night and in short breaks during the day; that is part of your safety and of good service. Whatever they do for you beyond that is personal service.
Food on board:Cooking on board is only part of it when a chef is booked – mostly on large yachts. Many boats offer snacks, finger food or catering that the crew prepares; anything more is personal service. Ask the provider what is planned on this boat.
Equipment on board:Under way, the boat makes its own power and often its own fresh water. Generator, air conditioning, watermaker and ice maker run on seawater and, despite careful maintenance, can stop for a while; the crew steps in at once. At sea and in high season a technician or a spare part takes longer than on land. A technical hiccup is part of life at sea – crew and provider do everything they can to resolve it as quickly as possible. Where there is internet on board, the connection may occasionally drop at sea.
Extras and water toys:Seabob, SUP, tender and other extras are gladly at your disposal. Like everything exposed to salt, sun and weather, they can fail now and then; an alternative is then gladly found.
The captain decides:You plan the route together with the captain. Where safety and comfort are concerned, he makes the call – anchorage, the time back in port and manoeuvres in weather, by draft, other boats and shelter from the wind. Sometimes he chooses a more sheltered bay for it; that uses fuel too.
Tender:The tender is driven by the crew – that keeps it safe and insured. In many bays landing on the beach is forbidden; the crew will gladly take you to a spot where it is allowed.

We know the area and talk to the provider for you, before and after you book.
Large yachts cannot enter the harbour after it closes; the return time follows from that.
At anchor:At anchor instead of in port is often the nicer experience: quieter and with a view of the water. You then go ashore by tender.
Fuel:Ask the provider before departure how fuel is charged. Wishes like «take us here and there» use fuel.
Security deposit:You leave the security deposit with the provider, depending on the provider as a pre-authorisation on your card or as a charge. After the return it is released, less any documented damage. Your bank may still show the amount for a few working days.
Tips:In the Mediterranean a tip is not obligatory, but customary. As orientation: the industry (MYBA) suggests 5 to 15 % of the base price for boats with crew; European crews usually receive 5 to 10 %, in the Caribbean and the USA 15 % and more is customary. It is given at the end, usually to the captain, who shares it with the crew.
Toilet on board:Marine toilets are delicate: only toilet paper goes in, on some boats not even that. Hygiene articles please into the bin.
Times:Embarkation and return take place at the booked times. If you arrive later, the return time stays the same. Harbour clearance and weather can shift a pick-up a little.
Back earlier:If you would like to return earlier than planned, that is always possible. Your booking covers the booked time.
Checks:The authorities may come on board at any time and ask for ID; in Italy and France this is perfectly normal. So it is best if everyone carries valid ID.
Agreements on site:Agreements made on site with the crew or the provider count when they are confirmed through Go2Boat – easiest via «Help with my booking».
If something is not right:If something does not go as planned, report it straight away via «Help with my booking» – then we can solve it on site.
