What does a week on a boat cost per person?
The boat is the biggest item, but not the only one. Here is what comes on top, what boats in the regions cost right now and how to work out your share.
What the costs are made of
- Boat
- The final price for your dates, including mandatory extras such as final cleaning. On Go2Boat you see it before booking.
- Chosen extras
- For example a dinghy engine, a SUP or a linen upgrade, depending on the provider. Items payable at the base are listed separately.
- Fuel
- Usually by consumption: litres per hour times engine hours times the price per litre. Sailboats use far less than motorboats.
- Marina and mooring fees
- For nights in harbours or at mooring buoys; at anchor in a bay often nothing. Protected areas may charge their own fees.
- Provisions
- Shopping for breakfast, lunch on board and drinks; restaurants ashore come on top.
- Skipper
- If you sail with a skipper: their fee as set by the provider, often plus their meals.
- Security deposit
- Left with the provider and returned when the boat is handed back in order; it is not part of the cost.

How to work out your share
- Divide the boat's final price for your dates by the number of people on board.
- Add fuel, marina fees, provisions and chosen extras, and the skipper if you sail with one.
- Enter children or travellers who pay less with a smaller share – the boat kitty does the maths.
